Roles and Responsibilities

Below is a brief description of what each member of the committee does. If you think these descriptions are inaccurate, please get in touch with out club secretary via email.

Role

Responsibilities

Chairman

·        Call committee meetings and chair them

·        Organises response to initiatives (such as club first).

·        Sit on Sports club management committee

·        Oversee management of LCMHC

·        Designated signatory for club bank account

Secretary

·        Committee meeting minutes (preparation and distribution)

·        Communication (receive and distribute to necessary parties)

·        Registration of players (liaise with other committee members to organise registration night). Collect registration forms and forward to league secretary.

·        Other general administration

·        Maintain club information database

·        Maintain contact list

·        Report issues to committee

·        Designated signatory on club account

Treasurer

·        Club finances (weekly fees, subscriptions, pitch hire etc.)

·        Collect match fees and copies of match cards

·        Maintain club account

·        Registration payments – collected and sent to league

·        Committee expenses

·        Inform committee of status

·        Designated signatory on club account

Selection chair

·        Chair selection meetings

·        Enforce club selection policy

·        Coordinate organisation of players with captains prior to games

·        Be aware of league rules and regulations (as far as they pertain to selection issues) and ensure they are adhered to.

·        Inform team captains of any tournaments or events in addition to league matches

·        Ensure Nomination forms (for those competitions which request them) are completed in accordance with the league rules and regulations

·        Report issues to committee

Team captains (please note that these responsibilities may be shared with team secretary on agreement)

·        Select teams

·        Work in collaboration with other captains

·        Act as captain (or appoint other) on pitch

·        Ensure all players have transport to games

·        Disseminate information from committee to team (and vice versa)

·        Produce match report and hand to media team

·        Maintain first aid kit throughout season and ensure it is pitch side for each game

·        Ensure designated goalkeeper has appropriate kit

·        Provide match ball for home games

·        Be aware of league rules and regulations and ensure they are adhered to.

·         Complete match cards (provide treasurer with copy)

·        Ensure team is ‘warmed up’ and prepared for the game

Team secretaries (please note that these responsibilities may be shared with team captain on agreement)

·        Communication with opposition (on weekly basis to confirm fixtures)

·        Communication with umpires (confirming for games)

·        Assist captain as necessary

·        Collect match fees and hand to treasurer each week

·        Ensure player registration is completed by the date required (league and club registration forms plus league and club registration fees). Copies of forms should be handed to club secretary, fees to the secretary.

Head Coach

·        Organise club coaching sessions

·         Organise coaching team

·        Disseminate information from committee to members

·        Maintain first aid kit throughout season and ensure it is pitch side for each coaching session

·        Ensure training fees are collected and handed to treasurer

·        Liaise with team captains where team coaching is requested

·        Report issues to committee

Social Secretary

·        Organise social events throughout the year

·        Major events include End of Season Dinner, Summer Tournament, Christmas party and Bonfire night (although events should not be limited to this).

·        Assist captains in organising team socials where requested.

·         Report issues to committee

Tournament Director

·        Organise the Summer tournament, including:

·        Organising volunteers

·        Finding sponsorship

·        Arranging extra equipment (e.g. Marquee, trophies, etc)

·        Sending out invites

·        Administration of event (e.g. match schedule, umpires, etc)

Ground team

·        Maintain ground at Moor Lane

·        Inform committee on status

Media team

·        Maintain club website

·        Maintain club statistics

·        Collect match reports and selection information and submit to local press

·        Inform committee on status

Bar management

·        Maintain bar during hockey season

·        Stock bar

·        Inform committee on status

Management committee

·        Sit on Sports Club committee

·        Report status to hockey committee

Youth Coordinator

·        Be aware of and enforce team youth policy

·        Coordinate with coaching team for junior training sessions and schedule

·        Ensure development and health and well-being of juniors when partaking in club events.

·        Organise entrance and teams for junior tournaments (and associated events)

·        Ensure juniors are registered appropriately with club (forms to be forwarded to secretary and any fees to treasurer).

·        Work with Child Protection Officer

Child Protection Officer

·        Ensure compliance of club activities with Child Protection Legislation

·         Initial point of contact for child protection issues

·        Figure head of club
